The noun 'factory' it's a bit degrading for Wistom - the area is about 150 ha (over 370 acres), and just before liquidation in '97, it was placed on '95 biggest polluters blacklist just after 'Bełchatów' Lignite Mine and Power Plant. In it's peak, the WISTOM employed almost 12,000 souls, and required three internal power plants.
